Boulder Creek Surgery Center

Boulder Creek South is a new, 42,000 sq. ft., two-story medical office building. This building has been conceived as Class A office space that will serve patients in this community for many years to come. The building houses an ambulatory surgery center with seven operating rooms, as well as clinical office space for several specialty medical practices. Planning for the building was rooted in patient comfort, functionality, efficiency, and long-term flexibility. Designed so that patients and staff feel connected to their surroundings, the building embraces nature and the region by providing—wherever possible—access to daylight and views and incorporation of natural materials. The building form is shaped by the needs of the program, with the architecture supporting and augmenting the building function through a contemporary design aesthetic that is clean, purposeful, and expressive.

The building is positioned on the site for clarity of circulation and patient convenience. A covered entry with a warm wood soffit is provided for patient drop-off and pick-up. Tenants share an entry atrium with an open stair, clad in warm wood, that connects to a gracious corridor on the second level and provides access to all clinical spaces. Skylights bring natural light to the second floor, and each clinic entry has been treated with specialty lighting, wood, and ceiling soffit.

The building owners have a commitment to the integration of art into the building. Specialty lighting is provided to highlight paintings from the owners’ collection, and a sculpture was commissioned for the exterior pedestrian plaza. The building landscaping and site work visually screens parked cars and complements the mature landscaping adjacent Boulder Creek to the north.
