Director Park Pavilion
Initially led by long-time TVA client TMT Development, this project replaced an undesirable surface parking lot with a new public park. Local developer Tom Moyer donated the surface rights for the property with the provision it be returned to the use for which it was originally platted in the mid 1800s: an open public place. When the TVA-designed underground parking garage was completed in 2007, construction of the new park commenced.
TVA was part of the interdisciplinary design team creating a first class urban oasis for this extension of the South Park Blocks. The park features pavilions, a water feature, and extensive hardscaping and landscaping. The design team successfully negotiated with Portland Department of Transporation for the extension of the plaza paving surfaces across adjacent city streets to allow expansion space for special functions.
