A full-floor remodel in the east wing of the Rogue Regional Medical Center, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit updates were prompted by the need to provide more patient care within the existing first floor. Completed in three phases, the addition is located next to the adjacent, pre-existing wing, which remained fully operable during renovations. The first phase involved relocating facilities to newly created departments throughout the medical center; the second phase was the remodel of the full second level floor plate; and the third phase allowed for the first floor’s existing NICU facilities to be brought up to standards. New materials and family-friendly patient care rooms are what make this project successful. Features include maple panels, rubber flooring, efficient headwalls (for future flexibility), and satellite nurse charting stations with views to each patient. All lighting on this floor, with the exception of exam lighting, is indirect.
