Innovation Center | Block 3 Apartments
Designed to fill a need for centrally located housing in Richland, these contemporary one- and two-bedroom apartments were primarily geared toward employees at the nearby Washington State University and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory campuses. The goal was to create a more urban, modern development than the market currently offers, allowing shorter commutes for residents.
The four-story development was broken into two masses over ground level parking, linked together by an elevated pool terrace. The pool, terrace, and amenity space were laid out to frame views of Richland and surrounding green space on Innovation Boulevard. The façade was a composition of ribbed and smooth metal panels, cedar siding, and Corten steel. In addition to the pool amenity, the project incorporated both a shared great room and fitness area.
