Tacoma Dome Master Planning

In conjunction with our work in providing preliminary design services for the Harold E.LeMay Museum, the City of Tacoma commissioned TVA Architects, Inc. to provide a master plan for the 40-acre Tacoma Dome Area. Composed largely of light industrial and service-related uses, the Dome Area anchors the southern end of the Foss waterway and the future downtown light rail link.

Our charge was to provide a plan that could give definition to this special district, evaluate development strategies, study vehicular and pedestrian
circulation/connection, propose transition and entertainment district that will become Tacoma’s regional transportation hub. Toward this end, our master planning efforts included Dome Area development guidelines and commensurate adjustments to the city’s zoning code.
