Lake House
Framed views and expansive vistas help accentuate the experience of being right on the water’s edge, and the beauty of this Pacific Northwest region.
Located on a large lake 8 miles south of Portland, this unique residence was designed as a sanctuary and a retreat for its owners who were seeking privacy and spaces for reflection and contemplation. Water surrounds the home on three sides affording all interior spaces unparalleled views of the lake and the surrounding hills. Defined by two, long rectangular wings that pinch together at the main entry, one arrives at the home in a space compressed by the building forms. Passing through an intimate courtyard filled with reflecting pools and the sound of water, the building gracefully opens out towards the lake and frames a two-story living space at the heart of the plan. Interior rooms are organized to create multiple outdoor courtyards and private sitting areas. All living and dining spaces are located on the main level and have direct connections to the outdoors, while level two is more private with bedroom suites and a meditation studio.
