Legendary Portland developer Tom Moyer was TVA’s first client, one of our strongest advocates, and our dear friend.

Having completed the Fox Tower with TMT several years earlier, we collaborated again with Tom Moyer on his second major Portland high rise, Park Avenue West. Our goal was to create a simple, elegant building form that would contribute to the iconic Portland skyline. Occupying a half-block site, Park Avenue West sits at the center of Portland’s historic block network, a key feature of the city’s urban fabric.

The original program was heavily focused on luxury housing. However, when construction was halted due to market unrest, the project became a symbol of the economic downturn. When the project began again several years later with a new programmatic mix of apartments and offices, the team quickly adapted the design to incorporate work already in place. A LEED Platinum certified building, Park Avenue West is a 30-story tower that balances transparency and mass, and creates a visually engaging, highly articulated profile that animates the city sky.
